The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has pledged to tackle recent theft issues reported at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
A recent article which highlighted the frustrations from individuals urged the GACL to enforce stringent measures to prevent unauthorised entry into luggage areas.
Following numerous complaints from passengers about missing items from their unaccompanied luggage, GACL has announced immediate steps to investigate and resolve the problem.
The assurance was in a statement released on Sunday, June 16, 2024.
“Management has taken note of the concerns raised in the publication and is taking the needed steps to immediately investigate and address it.
“Furthermore, plans are already in motion to restrict access to non-travellers and unauthorized personnel at security zones, such as baggage hold areas.
It further emphasized that individuals found guilty of theft or extortion would face severe legal consequences.
“Management wishes to assure the general public of its commitment to ensure that operations at the airport are safe and secure for our travellers,” the statement concluded.
