Vociferous Ga Mashie Now In Silence Over Hearts Of Oak
With a diligent survey of history, The Ghana Report has enough grounds to jump to the conclusion that the poor string of results by the nation’s premier and traditional club, Accra Hearts of Oak is the worst-ever performance by the club.
Hearts, perennially expected to win the domestic league at the start of each season, have suffered three defeats on the trot, conceding 11 and scoring 3 in the lackluster. Hearts were beaten 5-1 by both Tamale City and Medeama FC. They then lost 0-1 to Legon cities.
The three consecutive defeats in Ghana’s premier league this season are sequels to the club’s chequeredness for some time now. A flip-flopping that tilts toward the downward slope.
Hearts were hammered 6-1 and 4-0 in Morocco and Algeria respectively, during their last continental campaign, despite their 2021 league triumph.
Reports say. the club’s supporters and old players are embittered by the drop and commit to any emergency roles to change the grim outlook.
Past football heroes of the club, including the very best, Mohammed Polo, were handed coaching roles at various stages but still, Hearts could not relive its past glory as conquerors. An issue some see as a sign of poor player quality and probably unaware of the club’s great antecedents.
Hearts 2023 is far below its 1986 predecessors who after beating off relegation, were put on mass transfer to usher in the twinkle-twinkle little stars which matured in 3 years to restore the lost pride of the club.
