A fuel tanker has overturned on the Cape Coast -Takoradi highway about 100 meters before the UCC east gate spilling its content on the highway.
The unfortunate incident occurred on the evening of Sunday, July 28.
It is unclear what caused the truck pod to fall on its side.
The spillage made that part of the stretch slippery, threatening pedestrians and motorists.
The incident, though dangerous, appeared to be a fortune for some individuals as they were seen risking their lives collecting the spilt fuel with gallons.
Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene.
Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service assessed the environment and evacuated all potential threats and heat sources from the scene to avoid any unfortunate situation.
Police officers diverted traffic away from the area to avoid further accidents.
This adds to the number of such incidents that have occurred on the major road.

According to reports, the fuel tanker driver with registration number GR 4339-C tried to avoid a head-on collision with an articulated truck with registration number 7310-BH.
