Personnel from the Eastern Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service brought under control a fierce blaze that erupted due to an accident involving a fuel tanker on the Koforidua-Mamfe route.
The circumstances surrounding the accident that caused the tanker to ignite remain unclear; however, according to the Fire Service, which has initiated an investigation into this unfortunate event, no casualties were recorded.

This incident resulted in significant traffic congestion on the route, leaving travellers journeying from Accra to Koforidua and vice versa stranded due to the fire that had consumed the entire area.
The Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer for the Ghana National Fire Service, DOIII Ignatius Kwamena Baidoo, in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report on Citi News, advised motorists to seek alternative routes while personnel strive to extinguish the fire and regain control of the situation.
