Fuel prices set to rise 3% from December 1 — COMAC

The prices of petroleum products are expected to rise slightly at the pumps beginning today, December 1, 2025.

This projection comes from the latest outlook report by the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), which guides pricing decisions for oil marketing companies.

According to the report, petrol prices are expected to increase between 1.97% and 3.30%, bringing the pump price to about GH¢12.91 per litre.

Diesel is also expected to go up between 2.85% and 5.15%, with the price projected to reach GH¢13.37 per litre.

The price of LPG may rise by as much as 3.10% per kilogram, potentially pushing it to GH¢13.80 per kg.

COMAC explained that these expected increases are mainly due to rising international prices of finished petroleum products and the recent pressure on the Ghana cedi.

Over the past few weeks, petrol prices on the international market increased by 1.26%, diesel by 2.28%, and LPG by 0.07%. Diesel prices are expected to rise even further in the coming days, largely because of uncertainties about supply.

The Chamber also noted that the cedi’s depreciation over the past two weeks has played a significant role in the projected fuel price hikes.

The cedi fell from GH¢10.94 to GH¢11.14, representing a 1.76% depreciation. Analysts attribute this pressure to increased corporate demand for foreign exchange and typical end-of-year financial pressures.

The Executive Secretary of the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers, Duncan Amoah, recently said that future fuel price movements will depend heavily on how the cedi performs in the coming weeks.
