On April 3, 2023, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) in Ghana began reducing prices of petroleum products at the pumps consistent with conditions on the global market.
GOIL, TotalEnergies and Shell are now selling a litre of petrol for GH12.65 and diesel for GH¢12.84 from the previous GH¢12.95 and GH¢13.49, respectively, with the most recent reduction.
The adjustment shows that petrol has declined by 2%, while diesel has decreased by almost 5%.
Other OMCs are expected to cut fuel prices at the pumps in due course, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
This is a relief for fuel consumers, especially vehicle owners who want to make the best out of the reduction by filling their tanks and taking advantage of bulk purchases like filling out their tanks to the brim.

- Suzuki S-Presso
The fuel tank capacity of the Suzuki S-Presso is 27 litres. This vehicle is notable for its usage as an Uber taxi, a ride-hailing service in Ghana. With the reduction by oil marketing leaders like Goil and TotalEnergies, it will cost about GH¢314-341 to fill out a Suzuki S-Presso.
2. Toyota Vitz
The fuel tank capacity is 42 litres, averaging approximately one km/L in the city and on highways.
In Ghana, it is also common for ride-hailing services. It is a car of choice for private citizens who also prefer vehicles with a lower engine capacity.
Using the prices of Shell and TotalEnergies, it will cost GH¢488-GH¢531 to fill the tank fully.
3. Toyota Corolla
The fuel tank capacity for Toyota Corolla is 50 litres.
It will cost GH¢582-GH¢632 to fill the tank of this vehicle at the pumps of any oil marketing company, especially at Shell, Goil, TotalEnergies and Allied oil.
4. Toyota Land Cruiser
It has a fuel tank capacity of 110 litres, especially for Land Cruiser 300.
Users of such vehicles should be prepared to pay a considerable amount compared to other types of cars.
It would not cost less than GH¢1,373 to fill the tank to capacity.
5.Mercedes Benz Sprinter
Mercedes Benz Sprinter is common for intra-city and inter-city commercial vehicle operators.
It has a fuel tank capacity of 78 litres.
It will cost GHC¢961-988 to fill out this vehicle at Goil, TotalEnergies and Petrosol.
6. Toyota Hiace
Toyota Hiace is one of the mini-buses used by most intra-city and inter-city commercial operators.
It has a fuel tank capacity of 70 litres.
Drivers of such vehicles will have to dole out between GH¢874- GH¢898 to fill out the tank.
7. Range Rover Sport
Like Toyota Land Cruiser, the Range Rover falls in the category of luxury vehicles. A typical fuel tank capacity for this Range Rover is 86 litres.
Owners will have to earmark a significant GH ¢958- GH ¢ 1,087 to fill out the tank of a range rover sport at OMCs like Goil, TotalEnergies, JP Oil, Zen and Shell.
