French champions PSG move to sign Black Star captain Andre Ayew

French Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain [PSG] have reportedly expressed interest in signing the Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew this summer.

A report filed by French portal, Sqenf Foot claims PSG have submitted €5m for the Swansea City forward.

The French giants have made the move to sign the attacker after Kylian Mbappe suffered a nasty ankle sprain in last week’s Coupe de France final victory over Saint-Etienne, with PSG releasing a statement saying the 21-year-old will be out for three weeks, meaning he would miss the August 12 European tie.

And according to reports, Andre Ayew has been identified as a perfect fit and a replacement for the 2018 World Cup winner.

Ayew has had a tremendous campaign with Swansea City upon his return from Fenerbahce loan spell, scoring eighteen goals with seven assists for the Liberty Stadium outfit in the just-ended season.

The 30-year-old’s dream of qualifying to the English Premier League collapsed in the semis of the Championship play-off after Swansea lost on a 3-2 aggregate against Brentford.

The Ghanaian forward scored the only goal in the first leg at the Liberty Stadium giving the Swans an advantage of qualifying but wasn’t enough as they lost 3:1 in the return encounter at the Griffin Park.

Swansea City boss, Steve Cooper, said in an interview with BBC that his outfit is optimistic about keeping the Ghanaian star.

“I would like nothing more than for Andre to be playing with us again next season,” Cooper said.

Ayew could accept an offer from Paris Saint Germain to return to the French Ligue 1 after spending eight seasons at Olympique Marseille.

Ayew has a year to run on his sizeable contract but may move on after Swansea missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

He joined Swansea on a free transfer from Olympique Marseille in July 2015.
