Franklin Cudjoe fires at National Security, questions Jakpa’s leadership
President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has sharply criticised the recent national security raid on the residence of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, raising serious concerns about the leadership and conduct of the operation.
Speaking in an interview on Saturday, March 22, Cudjoe questioned the choice of Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, who led the raid.
He described the operation as poorly executed and damaging to the image of national security services.
“If previous infractions have been committed by politicians, let’s address them through proper, transparent processes—not through intimidation,” Cudjoe stated.
“I would advise the president that Mr. Jakpa is not the right person to lead such sensitive operations. His involvement only harms the credibility of national security.”
The raid on the morning of Wednesday, March 19, 2025, saw a heavily armed team of about 20 operatives—some masked and armed with AK-47 rifles—storm Dr. Addison’s residence at Roman Ridge, Accra.
Reports indicate that the operatives disabled the CCTV system before conducting a full search of the premises.
Cudjoe condemned the military-style tactics, arguing that such aggressive operations erode public trust and paint a negative picture of law enforcement agencies.
“National security operations must be professional and transparent. This operation was neither,” he stressed during an appearance on Channel One TV’s ‘Big Issue’.
He called on the government to reconsider leadership choices within security agencies, urging a return to lawful and civil approaches to upholding national security.
