Four suspects in police custody test positive for COVID-19
Four suspects at the Asamankese police cells in the Eastern Region have tested positive for Coronavirus.
The four, according to the Municipal Health Director, Dr. Samuel Boateng Agyemang, were among 10 inmates at the cells.
According to him, the samples of all 10 inmates were taken for testing by the West Akyem Municipal Health Directorate at the request of the Police.
All four who tested positive have since been isolated and receiving care, he noted.
As of June 15, Ghana’s COVID-19 cases stood at 11,964 out of which the Eastern Region accounted for 235 cases.
Three persons in the Eastern Region have died as a result of contracting the virus.
The Greater Accra Region has been identified by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) as the region with the highest number of COVID-19 infections with a total of 7,138 reported infections.
Ashanti Region came second on the list of the GHS with 2,205 cases whereas the Western Region placed third with 976 cases.
