Four including a one-year-old dead in gory accident
Four persons, including a one-year-old baby, have died in an accident at Kubease near Sekyere-Nkwanta on the Accra-Kumasi road.
According to a police situational report, the four died after an articulated truck, upon reaching a section of the road at Kubease near Sekyere- Nkwanta, suddenly lost control and veered from its lane and rammed into the Benz Sprinter bus they were occupying.
The impact of the crash led to the Benz sprinter bus somersaulting and falling into a ditch.
The four persons died instantly while others on board sustained injuries.
Passengers who sustained several degrees of injuries were rushed to the Ejisu Government Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the Juaben Government Hospital mortuary.
The police have picked up the driver of the articulated truck and are assisting with investigations.
The two were on their motorbike when the vehicle ran over them, killing them on the spot.
Fourteen others onboard a commercial vehicle with registration number CR-553-16 also sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH) for medical attention.
According to an eye witness, the minibus, which was moving at a top speed, tried to overtake another vehicle but lost control and crushed the two persons.
The vehicle finally veered off into a bush.
The bodies of the deceased persons have been deposited at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
