Four busted over murder of MoMo vendor in Aflao

The Ghana Police Service has arrested four persons in connection with the murder of a Mobile Money (MoMo) vendor in Aflao in the Volta Region.

The arrest was made on May 10, 2025, during a carefully coordinated intelligence-driven operation.

This was announced by the Volta Regional Police Command in a statement dated May 12, 2025.

The operation was carried out by the Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPID), the SWAT Unit, the Operation Motherland Taskforce, and a local community watch group known as ‘ACTION NOW’.

The suspects are Michael Sewornu, 34; Korku Agboada, 43; Atsu Agbagla, 36; and 22-year-old Utsuku Onyeso, who is a Nigerian national. They are currently in police custody and are assisting in the investigation.

The shooting incident, which took place on April 28, 2025, around 6:15 p.m., involved approximately five unidentified gunmen who attacked Christopher Ahordo at Gbagblakope, close to the Diamond Cement factory in Aflao.

Tragically, Christopher was fatally shot during this assault, and the assailants fled the scene with a bag believed to contain cash.

The suspects are scheduled to appear in court today, May 13, 2025.

Meanwhile, the police have reiterated their call for public vigilance and cooperation, encouraging residents to share timely and credible information to assist in ongoing crime-fighting efforts in the area.
