Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma Central constituency, Victor Okuley Nortey, has passed away.

According to reports, Mr. Nortey died on August 18, 2024, at the Nyaho Clinic in Accra after a brief illness.

The news of his passing was announced by Jefferson Sackey, the 2024 NPP parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma Central, who described Mr. Nortey as his campaign manager during the 2023 NPP primary.

Mr. Sackey praised Mr. Nortey’s guidance, dedication, and invaluable contributions to his campaign.

Mr. Nortey, born in 1958, was first elected to parliament in 1999 via a by-election and served as MP from March 26, 1999, to January 6, 2009, making him the longest-serving MP for the Ablekuma Central constituency.

His passing has been met with an outpouring of tributes and condolences from the NPP fraternity and beyond.

“My thoughts and prayers are with his family and the entire NPP fraternity in Ablekuma Central during this difficult time,” Mr. Sackey said in a Facebook post.
