Former MASLOC boss will be extradited to serve her 10-year jail term – Deputy AG
Former MASLOC CEO, Sedina Tamakloe Attionu, convicted of causing financial loss to the state, will be extradited to Ghana to serve her 10-year jail term.
This was made known by Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah after court proceedings on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
He disclosed that the government will use all available resources to bring her back to the country.
“What is refreshing is that she will be brought down to face justice. In Ghana, we have various laws, you can choose to stay away but so far as we have laws relating to how we can extradite you from one country to Ghana, be rest assured that she will be brought down to face justice,” he assured.
It will be recalled that on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, an Accra High Court sentenced the former MASLOC boss to 10 years in prison for causing a financial loss of GH¢90 million to the state.
A former Operations Manager of MASLOC, Daniel Axim, who was also on trial with Madam Attionu, was jailed for five years with hard labour.
They were both found guilty of 78 counts of conspiracy, stealing, unauthorized commitment resulting in financial obligation for the government, improper payment, money laundering, and contravention of the Public Procurement Act.
The prosecution accused them of stealing GH¢3.19 million while at MASLOC and willfully causing GH¢1.97 million financial loss to the state.
Again, they were accused of making unauthorized commitments resulting in financial obligations for the government to the tune of GH¢61.74 million.
The charges against the two also include GH¢22.15 million loss of public property, improper payment of GH¢273,743, and laundering of GH¢3.7 million.
