Ex-Accra Hearts of Oak assistant head coach Mohammed Hamza Obeng will assume the same role at Kumasi Asante Kotoko following a shakeup in the Porcupine Warriors’ technical team.
Hamza Obeng served as an assistant coach under Abdul Karim Zito but has been promoted to the deputy head coaching role following Zito’s resignation and Prince Owusu’s ascension to the head coaching position.
Prince Owusu was confirmed as the interim Kotoko head coach with Kotoko ranked fifth in the league and eliminated from the MTN FA Cup at the round of 16 stage.
Owusu and Hamza Obeng have been tasked with guiding Kotoko through the remainder of the 2025-2026 season that has 13 league games left to play.
The pair’s first task is against arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday, February 15 at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Prior to Zito’s exit, Kotoko had won just once in their last five league games and suffered losses to Swedru All Blacks and Kpando Heart of Lions.
