Foreign Affairs Ministry warns against consular payment scams
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a strong warning to the public against dealing with unauthorised agents or relying on unverified sources for its services.
In a statement released on Monday, August 18, the Ministry stressed that submitting forged or fraudulent documents is a criminal offence and will be reported to law enforcement.
It advised the public to access official information only through the Ministry’s website, verified social media platforms, accredited media outlets, or directly from designated officers at the Ministry or Ghana Missions abroad.
“Do not make payments to unauthorised individuals under any circumstances,” the statement cautioned.
The Ministry also encouraged citizens to report suspicious activity or suspected fraud to the nearest Ghana Mission or through official contact channels to ensure proper verification and follow-up.
