Food suppliers threaten to picket at Education Ministry over outstanding debts
The National Food Suppliers Association of Ghana (NAFSAG) has declared its intention to stage a protest at the Ministry of Education over outstanding debts.
In a statement released on March 26, NAFSAG raised concerns regarding the unequal distribution of funds among suppliers, highlighting that only a few registered under the Ghana Commodity Exchange have received payments.
The association accused the Ministry of Education of lacking transparency and fairness in its disbursement of funds.
“We suspect a deliberate and unconscionable attempt by the Ministry of Education to frustrate the operational activities of the National Food Buffer Stock Company to the disadvantage and chagrin of the suppliers,” the statement read.
Demanding urgent action, NAFSAG called for equitable treatment of all suppliers, citing non-payment to the National Food Buffer Stock Company’s suppliers since February 2023.
They have therefore given the Ministry of Education 14 days to address their concerns.
