Five students from Assin Nsuta Agricultural Senior High School in the Central Region have been hospitalized following a violent clash between Form Two and Form Three students.

The clash has also left several other students with minor injuries.

The assemblyman for Assin Nsuta-Bepokokoo Electoral Area, Bashiru Kwame Amakrah, speaking to reporters, said the incident started after two students were caught engaging in sexual activities in an uncompleted building in the school.

“The relationship was between a Form Three student and a Form One student. The Form Two student who saw the two almost in the act of having sexual intercourse approached them, infuriating the Form Three student who slapped the Form Two student,” the assemblyman narrated.

He said three days later, the Form Two students mobilized and attacked the Form Three students in retaliation, resulting in a free-for-all brawl, with students using clubs and knives.

“The Assistant Headmaster in charge of Administration also sustained injuries. The headmaster took some students to the police station to seek a medical form to the hospital for treatment. It took the intervention of the Police to save the situation,” Mr Amakrah said.

The number of clashes among high school students nationwide is on the rise.

Two months ago, police arrested two students in connection with a violent clash between students of the Nkoranza Technical Institute (NTI) and Nkoranza Senior High Technical School (SHTS) in the Bono East Region.

The clash occurred Monday, June 12, 2024, at the Nkoranza SHTS, and left eight students injured, with the destruction of school properties and several vehicles belonging to teachers.

In March 2024, two students were reported dead in a clash involving students of Ngleshie Amanfrom Senior High School (NASEC) and Christian Methodist SHS during a Students’ Representative Council (SRC) week celebration.

The incident happened on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Block Factory on the Accra-Kasoa Highway in the Greater Accra Region.
