The Ghana National Fire Service has managed to save six COCOBOD warehouses and their contents, as well as several adjoining wooden structures, after a significant fire broke out at the Asafo, Bayo-Kasoa in the Ashanti Region.
GNFS, in a statement shared on its Facebook page, explained that the commercial fire occurred behind the COCOBOD Office on Wednesday, October 01, 2025.
Firefighters swiftly responded to a distress call at 0505 hours and arrived at the scene at 0514 hours to extinguish the fire. The fire was finally confined at 0608 hours and completely extinguished at 0705 hours.
According to the GNFS statement, the fire consumed six wooden domestic structures and three commercial facilities, including a drinking spot, pito brewery, and game centre. Damages included three refrigerators, three television sets, two popcorn machines, 145 bags of millet, personal belongings, and GH¢40,000.

“However, firefighters managed to salvage six COCOBOD warehouses and their contents, as well as several adjoining wooden structures.
No casualties were recorded; the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
“The GNFS has demonstrated its commitment to protecting lives and property, as seen in previous incidents, such as saving 97% of the Kasoa New Market from fire ruins in August 2024,” the statement noted.
