Six persons were reportedly injured after a fire tender responding to a distress call at Bogobire got involved in a road crash.
The officers were responding to an accident involving a cargo truck and a tricycle on the Dormaa-Berekum road on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.
A statement from the service confirmed that the said officers are receiving treatment at the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital in the Bono Region.
The statement signed by the Director of Public Relations of the Ghana National Fire Service, ACFO 1, Timothy Osafo-Affum, said the cause of the crash, which made the vehicle somersault and land on its roof, is not yet known.
This is not the first time a fire tender has been involved in an accident.
In February this year, a fire tender responding to a distress call got involved in an accident on a section of the Kwame Danso-Atebubu highway, leaving five in critical condition.
The tender attempted to swerve a motor rider who carelessly crossed the fire truck, leading them to skid off the dilapidated road.
The fire tender reportedly lost its balance and somersaulted thrice on the highway, landing on its roof in a nearby bush.
In June this year, six persons were reportedly injured after a fire tender responding to a distress call at Bogobire, a suburb of Obuasi in the Ashanti Region, crashed into a storey building.
The unfortunate accident occurred on Sunday, June 5 2022, when the driver attempted to stop abruptly after spotting an ongoing bridge construction on the road.
In the process, he ran into a heap of chippings as he tried to swerve, lost control, and drove into a storey building.
The development resulted in the injury of the personnel on board.
