Scores of slum dwellers in Asokwa Old Town, in the Ashanti Region, have been left homeless after a fire ravaged wooden structures used as accommodation.
The blaze, believed to have ignited around 3:30 pm on Saturday, quickly spread through the enclave, fueled by combustible materials.
Many victims, away during the outbreak, lost everything, including cash. Those present managed to salvage some belongings.
Onlookers rushing to the scene watched helplessly as the fire consumed several homes.
Four fire engines were dispatched, and officers worked to bring the situation under control.
Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the devastating fire.
Deputy Ashanti Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service, Rashid Nisawu, urged households to prioritize fire safety measures to prevent future incidents.
