Several wooden structures have been destroyed following a massive fire that spread through a settlement behind Ferro Fabrik Ltd in the Tema Heavy Industrial Area.
The inferno, which occurred late on Wednesday, 18 June 2025, reduced multiple structures used for both domestic and commercial purposes to ashes.
As of the time of filing this report, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) had successfully brought the fire under control.
Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were recorded.

According to the Tema Regional Command of the GNFS, the service swiftly responded to a distress call at 11:52 p.m. concerning the blaze.
The first fire appliance, dispatched from the Tema Industrial Area Fire Station and led by ADO I Orlando Adablanu, arrived on site at 11:58 p.m.
Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control by 1:59 a.m. on Thursday, 19 June 2025, and fully extinguished it by 5:43 a.m.
To support the operation, six additional fire engines were deployed from the Tema Metro, Motorway, Ashaiman, Newtown, Devtraco, and BOST Fire Stations.
The GNFS further stated that its personnel managed to salvage a considerable number of wooden structures and prevented the fire from spreading to Ferro Fabrik Ltd and other adjoining factories.

However, it confirmed that over 500 wooden structures and their contents were destroyed completely by the fire.
The operation was supervised by the Tema Regional Fire Commander, ACFO II Patrick Sallah, along with other senior officers and partner agencies.

Meanwhile, the GNFS has launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire.
This comes two days after a fire erupted at the Korle Bu Medical School’s medical laboratory buildings late on Tuesday night, June 17, 2025.
The blaze impacted several areas, including the Accounts Office, Stores, Administration, and Archives within the Medical Laboratory building.
A coordinated response was initiated quickly, involving personnel and equipment from various locations, including the Regional Headquarters Substation, Accra City Fire Station, National Headquarters Substation, and the Ministries Fire Station.
Firefighters brought the situation under control by 00:43 hours and completed the extinguishing process by 04:10 hours this morning, Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
