Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have effectively managed to control a significant fire that erupted at Kantamanto Tazani Lane, close to Ecobank in Accra, during the early hours of Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

According to GNFS, it received an emergency call at 1:31 a.m., with the first fire engine arriving at the location 11 minutes later, at 1:42 a.m.
In total, seven fire engines and a turntable ladder were dispatched from the Circle, Industrial Area, Accra Regional Headquarters, Madina, and Legon fire stations, along with additional assistance from two units from the National Headquarters.
The fire, which destroyed multiple commercial buildings, was brought under control at 4:49 a.m. after nearly three hours of vigorous firefighting efforts.

Acting Chief Fire Officer, Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, along with the Director of Operations, the Greater Accra Regional Commander, and other senior officials, visited the site to evaluate the situation and offer operational assistance.

Currently, there have been no reports of injuries, and firefighting efforts are ongoing to ensure that the fire is fully extinguished.
Investigations are anticipated to ascertain the cause of the fire.
