A Saturday morning inferno destroyed two shops at Tudu in Accra’s central business center.
The fire started on the fourth floor of one of the commercial buildings in the busy area.
According to DOI Alex King Nartey, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the quick response of their firefighters prevented the whole building from going up in flames.
“Due to the timely intervention of our fire tenders, this whole building has been salvaged from the fire,” he said.

However, the contents of the two affected shops were reduced to ashes by the flames.
Meanwhile, authorities have yet to determine the cause of the incident.
This comes after an inferno destroyed several shops and structures in the Kantamanto Market in Accra on Thursday, January 2.
The fire, which started around 1:00 a.m., burned nearly the entire market, displacing many traders.
It took the intervention of 13 fire tenders from the GNFS in the Greater Accra Region to bring the blaze under control.
According to the traders, the fire broke out suddenly, catching many off guard.
