A devastating fire has razed down about 17 containers at a scrap yard in Ashaiman, behind the China Mall.

The Monday, December 30, fire also destroyed several other assets valued at millions of Ghana cedis.

However, no casualties were reported.

It took a combined team of firefighters from Tema and Ashaiman fire stations to contain the inferno.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) deployed multiple fire tenders to prevent further destruction.

Meanwhile, Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.

The GNFS also urged scrap yard operators and businesses to remain vigilant regarding changes in weather conditions.

This comes after a fire outbreak at the Saglemi Housing Project engulfed five 40-foot containers used as offices on December 24, 2024.

The GNFS responded promptly, deploying firefighters from the Sege and Devtraco Fire Stations.

The blaze, which started at approximately 5:52 pm, was brought under control after over three hours of intense firefighting.

The fire was officially extinguished by 9 pm, preventing the flames from spreading to nearby housing units.

Although the containers and their contents were destroyed, fortunately, no casualties were reported.
