A devastating fire has left nearly 900 female students of the Northern School of Business (NOBISCO) without accommodation after the school’s girls’ dormitory was destroyed on Wednesday afternoon.

The dormitory, which housed students from Aggrey, Arthur, Ali, and Gbewaa houses, was gutted by the blaze, leaving little of the structure or its contents intact.

At the time of the incident, most students were in class. Many rushed back to the dormitory as the fire spread, desperately trying to rescue their belongings before the flames took over.

Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service worked for several hours to contain the fire and eventually bring it under control.

Although no injuries or fatalities were recorded, the damage was extensive. Beds, mattresses, books, uniforms, and other personal items were all destroyed in the fire.

School authorities say the affected students are distressed and currently without accommodation as efforts begin to assess the damage and put temporary arrangements in place.
