Eyewitnesses who spoke to reporters could not describe exactly how the blaze started.

However, it took personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service close to two hours to bring the fire under control due to its intensity.

According to the Assin Fosu Municipal Fire Officer, ADO III Paul Tawia, there was a delay in dousing the fire due to the lack of hydrants in the vicinity.

He, therefore, called on the authorities in Assin Fosu to install fire hydrants at strategic locations in the area as a proactive measure to handle similar emergencies in the future.

Meanwhile, he said firefighters found a gas cylinder and a fire extinguisher in the debris, although the cause of the fire is unknown.

This comes after a fire gutted three structures at Eno Mirekua, close to the Abeka market in Accra.

The fire razed a popular pub and two beauty parlours beside it on Monday, July 1, 2024.

Recounting the incident, an eyewitness said the outbreak started around 6 am when the pub was yet to open for the day.

According to the GNFS team dispatched to the fire scene, they had difficulties dousing the flames after they arrived a few minutes after the distress.

Exposed electrical wires in the pub made it difficult to tackle the fire.
