Fire destroys three homes in Takoradi
Three households near the Cape Coast Station in Takoradi were completely destroyed by fire on the morning of August 16, 2025.
The blaze, which started around 9:00am, spread quickly through the area, leaving families with nothing but ashes and memories.
Although the Ghana National Fire Service responded quickly with two fire tenders, the damage had already been done. Residents could do little to stop the flames before help arrived.
“I saw some kids running and shouting that a wooden structure was on fire. We tried using buckets of water to stop it, but it was already out of control by the time the fire service came,” said Ekow Ocran, who lost everything in his apartment.
The origin of the fire remains unknown. Officials from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS)are still investigating.
Public Relations Officer for the Western Region, DO3 Emmanuel Bonney, confirmed that no official statement on the cause has been released yet.
Other victims shared their devastation. Daniel Sackey Dadzie listed household items including his television, bed, and refrigerator as part of the losses.
In another home, Kwame Assiful managed to salvage only some coins, while his savings and belongings were completely destroyed.
The community is reeling from the tragedy as residents try to come to terms with the extent of the loss. Support from the public and authorities is likely to be crucial in helping the affected families recover.
