A final-year student of Esiama Senior High Technical School, Philip Armah Ludtroth, has died after attempting to jump over the school’s fence wall.
Information gathered indicates that 19-year-old Ludtroth, allegedly jumped the wall to buy food outside on Wednesday, March 20, around 1:00 pm.
He unfortunately landed on his neck, sustaining a severe neck sprain.
According to the Ellembelle District Director of Education, Wilfred Adodoadji, the day in question was declared a Heroes Day; the school on that day had a program to honor retirees of the Ghana Education Service (GES) and teachers in the Ellembelle District for their hard work.
The boy’s mother visited the school with provisions, but he tried to sneak out by jumping the school fence wall.
“Unfortunately, he landed on his neck and sustained a neck sprain, and he was later rushed to the clinic at Esiama,” Mr. Adodoadji said.
Ludtroth was referred to St. Martin’s de Porres Hospital at Eikwe, where he was pronounced dead.
The body has since been deposited at the Eikwe Hospital Morgue pending an autopsy.
The Esiama Divisional Police Command is investigating the incident
