Final rally timing not intended to clash with NPP’s – NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has rejected claims that the timing of its final rally was deliberately chosen to coincide with the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) rally.

With just six days left until the 2024 elections, both major political parties, the NPP and the NDC, are set to cap off months of intense campaigning with simultaneous grand rallies in Accra on Thursday, December 5, 2024.

The two rallies, which fall on the same date, set the stage for an intense final push as both political parties seek to galvanise voter support in the run-up to the polls.

This development has sparked debate, with some accusing the NDC of scheduling its event in a way that could potentially disrupt the NPP’s plans.

However, the NDC’s Deputy General Secretary, Mustapha Gbande, has strongly denied these allegations.

According to him, despite the clash in dates, the NDC is optimistic about the turnout.

“We’re all signing out how our campaigns will be, I don’t think it’s a coincidence. I don’t think it’s a plan to shortchange another. At the end of the day, what matters most is that the Ghanaian will have a choice or an option to choose to continue suffering or dislodge his/her suffering by voting against the NPP. I’m convinced that the [former] president Mahama is not a candidate of only the NDC but a candidate by the people of Ghana.”

The NDC’s final rally themed “Resetting Ghana – Let’s Finish Strong!”, will take place at Zurak Park in Madina, Accra.

In a press statement, the NDC’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, extended an invitation to party supporters, the media, and the general public to attend the event.

He stressed the importance of the rally as a culmination of the NDC’s campaign efforts.

Meanwhile, the NPP will be hosting its “Possibilities Victory Rally” at the UG Sports Directorate Park, opposite the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Accra.

The National Organiser of the NPP, Henry Nana Boakye, in a statement issued on November 30, 2024, extended an invitation to party members, supporters, and the general public to attend this “historic programme,” which will be broadcast live across all media platforms.
