Felix Odartey Lamptey Launches Campaign for Weija-Gbawe Constituency Seat
A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communications team, Felix Odartey Lamptey, has launched his campaign to contest the party’s parliamentary primaries in the Weija-Gbawe Constituency slated for May 13.
The man described as a grassroots person made his intentions known when he filed his nomination forms at the party’s constituency office in Gbawe on Monday, March 20.
The former Weija-Gbawe Constituency Secretary believes he is the sure candidate to deliver and win the parliamentary seat for the NDC in 2024.
He believes his close relationship with the grassroots will propel him to the top.
In his address to his teeming supporters, he said he knows the details of the constituency and will, thus, ensure that development trickles down if he is elected as their Member of Parliament (MP).
“I am the only candidate who knows your branch and knows your polling station,” he said, adding: “I am the only candidate who has a relationship with the community.”
According to Mr Odartey Lamptey, the major consideration for the NDC come 2024 will be to elect a parliamentary candidate who can win over neutrals so to win the seat for the first time.
And he touts himself as that candidate.
“I am the only candidate who can get a ministerial appointment,” he vaunted amid loud cheers from his supporters.
Mr Odartey Lamptey said his campaign strategy ahead of the upcoming primaries would be a house-to-house campaign in which he hopes to interact with at least 70,000 constituents face-to-face.
He pledged to donate an amount of GH¢1,000 to the party’s constituency welfare fund and has promised to continue the kind gesture every month should the delegates elect him to represent them.
The Weija-Gbawe Constituency is currently held by the New Patriotic Party’s Tina Naa Ayeley Mensah, who is likely to seek re-election.
