Father who tortured toddler for bedwetting sentenced two years
The father who inflicted severe wounds on his three-year-old son for bedwetting in Kumasi has been sentenced to two years in prison.
The 26-year-old father, Ebenezer Osei Bonsu, was also made to sign a four-year bond to be of good behaviour.
In May 2020, Mr. Osei Bonsu violently beat his three-year-old son with a belt and power cables for urinating in bed.
The toddler, Junior (not his real name) was left with deep cuts on his back and huge bumps on his forehead as a result of the beatings he suffered at the hands of his biological father.

In court Wednesday, June 9, the Judge, Patricia Amponsah said she took into consideration the age of the victim, the remorse accused showed, and the fact that the child will need both parents to take care of him, Joy News reported.
According to her, the toddler will need both parents to cater for him; hence, it was in his best interest if the father is not taken away for long.
Joy News said the Judge warned that should he break the bond of good behaviour, he will serve a four-year jail term.
Lawyer for the accused in his closing remarks referred the court to Proverbs 22:15.
He detailed that the Bible says the heart of a child is associated with sin and it’s only the cane that can remove it
He, however, said it was unfortunate the Bible did not state the extent to which the cane can be applied.
The lawyer said although his client intended to discipline his son, he admitted the accused went overboard.
He prayed the court to have mercy on his client.
Reacting to the judgement, the lawyer said: “We can only be grateful because the facts were against us”.
