Father and son charged for defiling 15-year old JHS student
An unemployed father and his son have been charged with defiling a 15-year old Junior High School student in Accra.
Gabriel Aryeetey, a 38-year-old driver and his son, Joshua Nii Aryea Aryeetey, an 18-year-old student have pleaded not guilty to the charges and the case is being heard at the Accra Circuit Court,
Presenting the facts of the case to the court presided over by Mrs. Christiana Cann, the prosecutor said the accused and the victim live at Laterbiokoshie in Accra.
Prosecuting Sergeant Opoku Aniagyei said Gabriel had noticed that his son was having sex with the victim.
The victim is daughter of his wife’s sister.
The sexual acts had been going on between 2017 and 2019 whenever the two were alone.
But Gabriel after warning his son would months later join in having sex with his under-aged relative.
According to the prosecution, the constant chasing of the girl by her relatives for sex, overwhelmed her.
During her visit to her mother who lives at Lapaz, the victim reported the harassment.
Her mother reported the matter to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit in Accra on September 23.
The police picked up the two while the victim was given a medical form to seek medical attention.
In their caution statement to accused persons admitted to the offence.
The court has admitted them to bail in the sum of GHS60, 000 each with three sureties one to be justified with a landed property.
