A devastating accident occurred on the Accra-Tema Motorway in the early hours of Tuesday, November 19, 2024, claiming the life of a 42-year-old bus driver.
The deceased, Isaac Atsu Hanu, was driving a Sprinter bus with registration number GT 4867-13 from Tema Adjei Kojo Underbridge to Lapaz.
According to passenger Louis Djamgma, the driver lost control of the steering wheel while navigating potholes.
Unfortunately, the vehicle crossed the median to the other lane and veered off the road into a nearby bush.
Many passengers sustained various degrees of injuries.
The driver’s mate, Godwin Sarbah, who survived the accident, recounted hearing the screams of passengers moments before the vehicle landed on its side.
Mr. Sarbah stated that the vehicle had no mechanical issues, and his late boss was not speeding at the time of the incident.
Personnel from the National Ambulance Service arrived quickly to transport the body of the deceased to the mortuary.
