President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is safe and unharmed, the Office of the President has said.
The assurance follows an unfortunate accident involving the president’s convoy on Sunday, May 19.
A statement signed by Director of Communications, Eugene Arhin, confirming the accident, said the president had travelled to Accra via military aircraft.
The statement further revealed that the accident, which occurred along the Bunso-Akyem Asafo stretch of the Accra-Kumasi highway, left one person dead and several close protection and police officers injured.
Several vehicles have also been completely wrecked as a result of the accident.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased, and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured officers,” the statement added.
