One person has been shot dead, with another in critical condition at Brewankor, a community in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region.
According to reports, the 25-year-old Kwabena Boame was killed while harvesting cassava with three other people on his farm on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
The second victim is currently receiving treatment at Nkwanta St. Joseph Catholic Hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds.
It is, however, unclear whether the murder is related to a conflict in the area.
Meanwhile, two people have been arrested in connection with the case.
This comes after another farmer at Odomi in the Nkwanta South Municipality, Dennis Gowugade, was shot dead by unknown gunmen on his farm on December 29, 2023.
Sources said Gowugade went to his farm to gather foodstuff when he was shot.
They attributed the incident to the ethnic disturbance between the Akyodes on the one hand and the Adeles and Challas on the other.
This brought to 18 the total number of people killed since the conflict started following a tribal misunderstanding between the tribes.
These incidents have prompted many to flee the municipality.
Meanwhile, chiefs from Adele, Akyode, and Challa have pledged to allow peace in the municipality following the clashes.
