A farmer has been found dead on a pear tree with gunshot wounds in his head at Ashiresu in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

Information gathered suggests that Alhaji Malik had gone to harvest pear for sale.

However, he was found dead on the tree on Sunday, May 12, 2024, with his tricycle, known as ‘aboboyaa’, abandoned at the scene.

According to Malik’s family, they became concerned when he did not return home at his usual time.

They mounted a search, only to find his lifeless body on the tree.

Blood was also found flowing from his head onto the ground.

The police were subsequently informed, and an investigation into the incident has commenced.

The body was later released to the family for burial per Islamic rites.

The late farmer is survived by his wife and more than six children.

This comes after the body of a young woman was found in the Afram River in the Upper Manya Krobo district in the Eastern Region.

The locals stumbled upon the body floating near the river bank in the Akotoe community.

Witnesses immediately rushed to town to inform community elders.

A group was assembled the following morning to return to the scene, only to uncover disturbing evidence suggesting foul play.

The victim believed to be an 18-year-old, was found with a sack loaded with stones tied around her waist in an attempt by her assailants to conceal her body.

Despite the effort, the weight failed to submerge her, leaving her visible.

Authorities were promptly alerted, and an official report was filed with the police.

The body has since been retrieved and transported to the police hospital morgue in Accra for further investigation.
