Ghanaian actress, Lucky Lawson has described fame as a curse when not put under control.

“Fame is a curse when not tamed, when you don’t have a family, people who can’t speak truth to you. when everybody is kissing and singing your praise your fame. You are bound to feel untouchable” she said.

Discussing the plight of American singer R Kelly who has been sentenced to 30-years in prison for sexual related offences, the actress said they are a lot of R Kelly’s in the Ghanaian entertainment industry.

“Its about time we held these powerful, influential people who abuse people in the society to account but while doing that we need to hold parents of these children too accountable” she said on TV3

Kelly, best known for hit song I Believe I Can Fly, has faced numerous accusations of sexual misconduct, making indecent images of children and other offences.

The singer is the subject of the documentary Surviving R Kelly, which premiered in New York in December and featured women who accuse him of sexual and physical abuse.

In 2017, Kelly denied allegations that he was holding a number of young women captive in a so-called “abusive cult”.
