Failing to fire underperforming ministers contributing to economic woes-Nyaho-Tamakloe tells Akufo-Addo

A stalwart of the New Patriotic (NPP), Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has lashed out at President Akufo-Addo for failing to call his ministers to order for various infractions in government.

According to him, there have been a number of infractions in Akufo-Addo’s government but the president has failed to discipline or reshuffle any of them.

Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe added that if the money stolen from Ghana and siphoned from the country is returned, Ghana will be able to restore the economy.

“If the money that has been stolen from this country is brought back we will get somewhere,” he said.

He further stated, “The cause of the problems we have is money being siphoned out by politicians.”

He was speaking at the 3Business Ghana’s Economic Forum Agenda held on Wednesday, August 9.

This comes after an Accra Circuit Court was told, in July 2023, that huge sums of money and other items of Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah and her husband, Daniel Osei Kuffour had been stolen from their Abelemkpe home.

The news saw the minister receive much criticism not only about keeping such huge sums in her home but also about the source.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor began investigations into the case after petitions from some Ghanaians.

Mrs Dapaah resigned from her post stating that she did not want the controversy to cause problems for the government.
