Face shield alone not allowed in banking halls – Bankers
Banks have directed that no client wearing a face shield alone would be allowed into its offices.
The directive issued by the Ghana Association of Bankers said the proper protocol is the wearing of the face mask, a measure adopted as key in controlling the spread of coronavirus.
The face shield is being used by many as a substitute for the mask, even a fashion accessory.
But the GAB has said it would have none of that at its banking halls, offices, even at ATMs.
The statement said the use of the face shield alone as a covid-10 control measure was not supported by emerging scientific evidence.
“As a result, with immediate effect, users of face shields without masks shall not be admitted to any banking facility,” the bankers association has warned.
It also stressed compliance to handwashing and social distancing, protocols issued by the government to curb coronavirus spread.
Ghana has recorded 32, 437 coronavirus cases. But active cases stand at 3,510. Some 161 people have died while 28, 927 have recovered or been discharged.
The fear of coronavirus is believed to have severely ebbed in Ghana. Feared when Ghana recorded its first cases in March, government has been urging the public to remain calm, adhere to safety protocols in what has been called “the new normal”.
