Expect Power Cuts During Raining Season – ECG

Source The Ghana Report

Management of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has sent an alert about possible outages that are likely to hit customers in some areas during this rainy season.

In a statement released on May 18, 2023, ECG said they are working tirelessly to strengthen and maintain a robust distribution network.

However, massive rainstorms and stormy winds usually cause the falling of trees, billboards, ripped roofing and other objects to fall on the electrical conductors, which results in outages.

The statement continued to explain that the outages caused by transient tripping (temporal interruptions) on the feeders are restored soon after the rainstorm.

However, permanent faults on the feeders will have to be rectified and may take a while to be restored by the ECG engineers.

The company urged customers and the general public never to hesitate to report outages and incidents of fallen or sagging conductors within their jurisdictions.
