Expect cloudy skies and thunderstorms this evening – GMet warns
The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a forecast for today, predicting varied cloud conditions across many parts of the country.
According to the agency, mist and fog should be expected in some coastal and forested areas during the early morning hours.
GMet’s 24-hour forecast indicates light to moderate rainfall in some parts of the extreme north and the inland coastal regions this morning.
As the day progresses into the afternoon and evening, isolated thunderstorms are anticipated in various middle, transitional, and northern regions of Ghana.
In major urban areas such as Accra, Kasoa, Takoradi, and Cape Coast, residents will wake up to cloudy or misty conditions this morning, with the possibility of rain later in the day.
Accra is expected to have partly cloudy skies in the morning, with a 30% chance of rain in the afternoon and temperatures peaking around 32°C.
Cities within the middle and transitional belts, including Kumasi, Koforidua, Sunyani, and Techiman, will see mist or partly cloudy weather this morning, giving way to sunny intervals and thunderstorms later in the afternoon or evening. Temperatures in these areas are forecasted to range between 31°C and 33°C.
In northern Ghana, places like Tamale, Yendi, and Bole will experience similar partly cloudy conditions and sunny spells during the day, followed by potential thunderstorms in the evening. Bolgatanga and Wa are expected to receive thunderstorms throughout the day, with cloud cover settling in during the evening.
GMet’s forecast highlights a general trend of fluctuating weather throughout the day, with a tranquil morning transitioning into scattered rain and potential storm activity later, especially in central and northern regions.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated through official channels, particularly in areas at risk of thunderstorms, and to take necessary precautions.
