ExCO member solicits support for Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton
Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Appiah has called for support for Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton.
The former Brighton and Newcastle United boss has come under intense pressure due to the national team’s recent poor performance.
Ghana suffered a 2-0 defeat against Mexico and later suffered a 4-0 humiliating defeat against the USA.
Following the questionable performance of the team, football fans have raised concerns ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) next year with several football fans calling for his exit.
However, Appiah, who is a former head coach of the Black Stars beleives Hughton needs support to succeed.
“As of now, let us wait for the report from the friendly games,” Kwesi Appiah, who is also the technical director of Asante Kotoko said
“But at the moment, Chris Hughton is the head coach and we must support him.
“Let us hope in the upcoming games, there will be some difference in the performance of the team then we can assess him properly,” he added.
Chris Hughton will hope to return to winning ways when the Black Stars come up against Madagascar and Comoros in the World Cup qualifiers next month.
