Ex-Ghanaian international soccer star, Manuel Junior Agogo has reportedly died.

A news item first put out by online portal ghanasoccernet.com reports that the former Black Stars striker died in London.

He was 40 years.

The news of the passing of Junior Agogo has shocked many with several more still coming to terms with the seeming reality.

Agogo was hospitalized in 2015 after suffering stroke which debilitated him.

He was remembered for his eye-catching performances for the Black Stars during the 2008 Nations Cup in Ghana.

Manuel “Junior” Agogo was born on August 1, 1979 and died today August 22, 2019.

He was born in Ghana but spent most of his childhood days in the United Kingdom (UK). He then moved back to Ghana during his years in secondary school.

Junior Agogo began his youth career at Sheffield Wednesday in 1995, moving up to the senior squad in 1997. He played for fifteen different clubs over the next fifteen years, before retiring from professional football in 2012.

The former Ghanaian international spent most of his playing career in England, with additional spells in the United States of America (USA), Egypt, Cyprus and Scotland.

His longest spell was at Bristol Rovers (2003–06), where he made 140 appearances before moving to Nottingham Forest.

Agogo played on the Ghana national team, the Black Stars between 2006 and 2009. His three goals in the final stages of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations helped Ghana to a third-place finish, adding to the three club honours he earned during his career.

He scored a total of 143 goals during his professional football career. After retiring, he opened his own small group and personal fitness training business.

The former Nottingham Forest and Bristol Rovers striker suffered the stroke in January 2015 soon after retiring from football, this subsequently led to Aphasia, which severely affects a person’s ability to use language.
