Empress Gifty sues Nana Agradaa for GH₵20m

Ghanaian gospel singer Empress Gifty has filed a defamation lawsuit against Evangelist Patricia Asiedu, widely known as Nana Agradaa, seeking GH₵20 million in damages.

According to court documents, the suit stems from a live social media broadcast on May 13, 2025, during which Nana Agradaa allegedly made harmful and false claims about Empress Gifty.

The statements, made via Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube, included deeply offensive accusations that have since been circulated across multiple platforms.

Empress Gifty says the remarks have severely damaged her reputation, both personally and professionally. The content, which has gone viral, reportedly caused emotional distress for her and her children, who are now being mocked in school.

Additionally, she claims the scandal has led to cancelled events, including an upcoming international programme scheduled for August.

“My career, my family, and my peace have all been disrupted because of those lies,” the gospel artist said in a statement shared by her legal team.

Her lawyers argue that the statements published online have subjected her to public humiliation and ridicule. They also mention that as a brand ambassador for several companies, the defamatory broadcast has caused collateral damage to her partnerships and public image.

The lawsuit seeks GH₵20 million in damages and calls for a permanent injunction preventing Nana Agradaa from making or sharing further defamatory content.

Empress Gifty is also asking the court to order the removal of all offensive videos and audios from the evangelist’s social media accounts.
