Empress Gifty Enstooled as Chief By The Igbo Community In Ghana

At the celebration of the New Yam Festival and the 10th anniversary of the Igbo community in Ghana, Ghanaian Gospel musician Gifty Adorye popularly known as Empress Gifty, has been enstooled as chief by the Igbo community in Ghana.

The ceremony came off at the Efua Sutherland Park in Accra.

According to the Igbo tradition, the Gospel musician will be known as Chief Ugo Nma.

The event was attended by some musicians and the politician husband of the musician, Hopeson Adorye.

After her coronation, Chief Ugo Nma adorned in an emerald green traditional Igbo outfit complimented with Nigerian coral beads on her neck and waist, accompanied by a customized title men fan with the inscription ‘Chief Empress Gifty Oppone Ugo Nma Ndi Igbo’, reaffirmed her devotion to the Igbo community in Ghana and abroad.

In an Instagram post by the Gospel musician, she stated that she was happy to be a part of the history of the Igbo community in Ghana and is prepared to contribute her quota to strengthening the ties between Ghana and Nigeria.

I would like to express my gratitude to the King and people of the Igbo Community in Ghana for bestowing such honour on me. I am more than thrilled to be part of history as the Igbo Community in Ghana marks its 10th anniversary on the throne today.

“This honour by extension would deepen the cultural and economic ties between Ghana and Nigeria. For this reason,  I would avail myself for this cause,  because we stand to gain a lot by working together as Africans. From today, I am one of you DAAAAAAAAAAALU”
