A 38-year-old electrician has been remanded in police custody for allegedly strangling his 20-year-old girlfriend to death.

The accused, Kwame Krappah, also known as Awana, appeared before the Kaneshie District Court to answer for the said crime.

The facts before the court indicate the accused strangled his girlfriend by tying a blue nylon rope around her neck from behind.

Court documents further alleged that the accused engaged in sexual intercourse with the deceased’s body before burying it within the vicinity.

According to the prosecution, the deceased, who worked as a pupil teacher at a school in Kpone Bawaleshie, left home for her workplace on July 11, 2023, but never returned.

The worried mother, the complainant in the case, reported her daughter’s disappearance to the police on July 17, 2023.

Following investigations, Krappah was apprehended as the deceased’s boyfriend.

Police investigations revealed that on July 11, 2023, the accused provided money to the girlfriend to braid her hair after eating at his residence.

Subsequently, without provocation, Krappah allegedly attacked the deceased and strangled her with the blue nylon rope.

It is based on these facts that Krappah was arrested. He is currently on a provisional charge of murder.

The court has yet to take his plea on the matter.

The case has been adjourned to September 5, 2023.
