A recent poll from Global InfoAnalytics shows that supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) prefer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s leader for the 2028 presidential elections.

Dr. Bawumia was the NPP’s presidential candidate for the 2024 elections, and he appears to be the clear favourite for the next election cycle should party delegates select a new flagbearer.

Dr. Bawumia gained 48% of the overall votes from the pool of those who participated in the poll.

His closest rival, Kennedy Agyapong, had 25%, while Dr. Osei Adutwum followed with 13%. The remaining contenders shared the remaining 14% of the votes.

These results underscore Dr. Bawumia’s significant standing within the party and suggest that his huge support will likely extend into the contest expected in four years.

His role as the former vice president and leader in 2024 polls has firmly established him as the preferred option for party members eyeing the future.

Former MP for Dome-Kwabenya, Adwoa Safo, is one of the biggest supporters of Dr. Bawumia.

She believes the economist should be given another chance to lead the party in the 2028 general election rather than replacing him after his first attempt.

Consequently, she has admonished party members to desist from blaming Dr. Bawumia for the huge loss in the 2024 election.
