Election 2024: NDC files injunction to stop EC from printing ballots
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, have filed a motion at the High Court in Accra seeking an interlocutory injunction against the Electoral Commission (EC).
In the writ, the plaintiffs sought to restrict the EC from printing the parliamentary ballot papers and notice of poll for the Amenfi Central constituency.
This latest development follows the disqualification of NDC parliamentary candidate, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, by the EC.
The disqualification follows an interlocutory injunction issued by the Sekondi High Court, which prevents the EC from recognizing Cudjoe as the NDC’s candidate for the upcoming December 7 elections.

In the earlier injunction, the plaintiff, Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the constituency, challenged Joana Cudjoe’s eligibility to contest in the parliamentary primaries.
Consequently, the NDC contends that the EC’s decision to print ballot papers without addressing the issue would violate the legal process and infringe upon the rights of their candidate, Joana Gyan Cudjoe.
