Election 2024: Be vessels of peace – IGP urges Christians
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akufo Dampare, and the Police Management Board have dedicated Sunday, November 24 to visiting churches to preach peace before, during, and after the December 7 elections.
Addressing a congregation at the Church of Pentecost in Accra New Town, the IGP entreated the church to continue praying for peace, but importantly, emphasised that their prayers should be backed with action.
He called on everyone to assist the police in enhancing security, law, and order to make the 2024 general election the most peaceful in the history of Ghana.
“We have come to say thank you to all of you in connection with these upcoming elections. The way we have allowed ourselves to be used as a vessel by the good Lord in conducting ourselves in a manner that has led to a situation where so far, with all the election processes, we have not heard anything [bad].
“Nothing has happened beyond us such that the peace we are experiencing during this election period has never happened before. It is because of the good Lord and his mighty hand upon our country and allowing ourselves as a vessel for his use.”
