Eid-ul-Adha: National Chief Imam Prays For Peace

The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, led a special prayer for peace in the country as Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Adha today (Wednesday, June 28).

At a special event to mark the day,  Sheikh Sharubutu emphasized the importance of peace and unity in Ghana and called on all Ghanaians to work together to promote development in the country.

In his sermon in Accra at the programme, which was attended by thousands of Muslims from across the country, the Islamic scholar asked for Allah’s guidance, protection and understanding for lasting peace in Ghana, citing Bawku, where a protracted conflict has led to many deaths, destruction of property and displacement of inhabitants.

“On this special occasion, I commit the whole nation to the care of Allah. Allah has kept order in our country and given us peace.

“We ask him to enhance peace and harmony. The situation in Bawku is of concern to us. We ask Almighty Allah to bring his peace to Bawku.”

The religious leader also prayed for wisdom for President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

“We ask Almighty Allah to keep our country and the two leaders that God has given us, the President and the Vice President, intact. We commit them unto the care of Allah. May Allah Grant them his protection,” he added.

The Eid-ul-Adha festival, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is an important religious holiday for Muslims around the world. It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God and is celebrated with prayers, feasting, and the exchange of gifts.

In Ghana, the festival is a time for Muslims to come together to pray, share food with family and friends, and give to those in need. It is also a time for reflection on the importance of sacrifice and service to others.

As the National Chief Imam led the prayer for peace, the atmosphere was one of unity and hope. Muslims from all walks of life came together to pray for peace and to reaffirm their commitment to building a better future for Ghana.
